The Keewatin steamship
at dock in Port McNicoll
This Great Lakes' steamship has a fascinating history that saw her go into private hands following years of service on the Great Lakes and across Georgian Bay.
Today, she is moored at the waterfront in Port McNicoll and welcomes visitors.
The steamship "Assiniboia", shown below, once sailed from Port McNicoll and had a lengthy career on the Great Lakes, including Georgian Bay. This photograph was taken by author-photographer, George Czerny, in the 1960s from atop a grain elevator which once stood there at the waterfront.
