In 2015, Four hundred years after explorer Samuel de Champlain visited Penetanguishene on southern Georgian Bay's shores, Penetanguishene opened a splendid waterfront park, assisted by the Department of Canadian Heritage and the local Rotary Club. First Nations' history is recognized, as is this town's French legacy.
