Majestic Meaford on the shore of Georgian Bay

The annual Scarecrow extravaganza in Meaford usually happens in September-October. The imaginative scarecrows add colour and attest to the creativity of their makers! This is one of the scarecrow displays which met visitors to Meaford alongside Highway 26 at the east end of town. Below, this photograph by George Czerny shows sailboats moored at Meaford's excellent marina. There is also lots of public space for walking, or picnics, in Meaford.  The marina is within walking distance of Meaford's downtown and excellent restaurants there.

Some Meaford views.....

Beautiful waterfront, beautiful opera house, Beautiful Joe Park......Meaford beckons from the shore of Georgian Bay with many things. Additionally, Meaford has a marvelous downtown core which features a variety of shops and restaurants. Just steps from the downtown area is Meaford's waterfront which includes an excellent marina, as well as considerable free-parking area and places to stroll.

Downtown Meaford also has an excellent Opera House facility which offers many kinds of events. It's definitely worth checking to see what is happening at the Opera House!

In the autumn, Meaford is made famous by its annual scarecrow event. Scarecrows come in various sizes and beckon to be photographed and enjoyed from various places!

Meaford was well represented at the 2016 Toronto International Boat Show. "Amber", a young lady who was staffing a booth on behalf of this southern Georgian Bay community, was friendly and informative.

Amber gave "George's Georgian Bay" information about Meaford harbor which offers excellent docking. Cliff Richardson Boats is located on the shoreline at Meaford Harbour and has been serving boaters for decades.

A top attraction in Meaford is the Meaford Hall and Cultural Centre. From stage shows to films, there is a lot happening at the Meaford Hall. Click on www.meafordhall.ca for more information.

Also at the Toronto Boat Show, representatives of radio stations Jewel 88.5, Jewel 99.3 and Jewel 92 had a booth and were promoting the areas which are covered by those radio stations. The areas, on the southern shore of Georgian Bay, range from Owen Sound in the west to Midland in the east and then southward as far as London and Niagara Falls areas.
